Limerick Printmakers (LP) is a vibrant artist studio located in the heart of Limerick city’s cultural quarter that has been in existence for almost twenty years (est. 1999). LP is a creative space that provides high quality facilities, technical advice and support, networking, promotional, and sales opportunities, challenging print based projects, along with additional benefits such as workshops; all of which are designed to encourage artists to maximise their talents at every stage of their careers. LP’s membership cohort is currently made up of approximately 65 people, spanning a wide age range and from a variety of backgrounds, united by their knowledge and passion for the artform of printmaking. Community is an vital component of the studio and both formal and informal skill sharing takes place on a regular basis. The studio is an vital space for graduates, emerging, mid-career and established artists to expand their technical skills and experiment creatively. LP is a recognised creative entity in Limerick and the Midwest region and amongst national and international printmaking studios. LP also delivers programmes in Education and Community Engagement that support the organisation’s aims in striving to make printmaking as inclusive and accessible as possible. These programmes are proactive, and designed to be interactive, encouraging hands on engagement in a diverse settings.

Nominated Artists-

Rowena Quill

Rowena Quill is a full time printmaker and is currently a member of the Limerick Printmakers studio. She graduated with an honours degree in in Fine Art Printmaking from the Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland in 2013 and has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Her work has been acquired by public and private collections. Quill specialises in silkscreen and mono-print as a process to depict her colourful, nature inspired imagery in limited edition hand-pulled prints. Her work is based on florals, birds, animals and geometrical shapes. She uses multiple layers of vibrant colours and rich metallics which have been inspired by extravagant renaissance interiors and the elegant wonders of nature to surprise her audience and help them reimagine her world through this prompt.

Suzannah  O'Reilly

Suzannah O’ Reilly is a practising artist, printmaker based in Limerick and Tipperary. She studied Printmaking in the Limerick School of Art; Design (LSAD) and later completed a Masters by research at the Crawford College of Art in 2004. In 2015 she co- founded Parallel Editions, a Fine Art Publishing house in Limerick. She is a full-time working member of the Limerick Printmakers (LP) since 1999, and was on the Board of Directors from 2010-2019. Suzannah teaches various printmaking techniques in LP and is an assistant lecturer in printmaking/drawing at LSAD. In 2015 Suzannah took part in the APPRENTICE / MASTER Project, Kunstpodium T Netherlands, working with 4 students from Spain, Lithuania, Belgium and the Netherlands. She has participated in many 24hr print projects in Limerick, Cork, Co. Tipperary (Delete Press) and two residencies in Factoria Cultural Aviles, Asturias, Spain. Her own practice in print has led her to work in collaboration with different organisations and disciplines promoting and expanding printmaking methodologies and practices. Her prints are made using many different printmaking techniques. Often beginning with a cyanotype print using objects, plants and the figure to create a base composition. Then layers of relief wood blocks and mono printing are applied intuitively using a colour sense that relates to the print/composition. Sometimes there is a further exploration of the print and how it is presented by using fold techniques and assembling them into artists books.
