PRINT STUDIO
Situated on the West Coast of Ireland and near to Clifden, the Claddaghduff studio is a spacious and well-lit fully-equipped etching studio with a large intaglio press and follows the Edinburgh safe print-making principles to avoid the use of toxic materials and solvents.
Margaret Irwin West
Born in India of Irish parents, Margaret Irwin West is a Printmaker and Painter, with roots in Roscommon, who has been living and working in Connemara since 1991. She trained in Dublin and Paris. Her work is held in both public and private collections. In 2008, she received a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from County Galway Arts Office while in April 2019 she was elected to AOSDANA In the current year, 2021, she has had work hung in the Royal Hibernian Academy Exhibition, Dublin. On the 17th September 2019, a full Retrospective Exhibition of her work, entitled “From Cubism to Claddaghduff”, opened at the Festival Gallery, Clifden as part of Arts Week 2019. Margaret continues to live and work on the Aughrus Peninsula.
