‘imPRESSions’ is the longest running International Open Original Print Exhibition in Ireland and has become an established feature of the Galway International Arts Festival. In its ‘live’ iteration, it operates under a competitive selection process where artists from Ireland and abroad submit work to be curated by an invited adjudicator. It has maintained an excellent record for producing high quality exhibitions of original prints and has showcased some of the best artists working in this field worldwide. Some of the most respected printmakers have accepted the role of curator/ adjudicator for the exhibition, four of whom were also invited to contribute to the 2021online show.

‘ imPRESSions …is close to a who’s who of Irish Printmaking’.

- Aidan Dunne, Irish Times, Jul 23, 2019

For 2021 ‘imPRESSions’ went online to celebrate the passion there is for Fine Art Printmaking in Ireland. On our site we display the extraordinary engagement and outstanding level of achievement attained by its practitioners across the country. All the major printmaking workshops in Ireland including the Graphic Studio, Dublin, Limerick Printmakers, Belfast Print Workshop, Cork Printmakers  presented, and each nominated two artists from their studio to feature on the online platforms of the Galway International Arts Festival as well as this site.

In addition, four prestigious international print organisations; Hampton Editions, New York, Wharepuke Print Studio, New Zealand, the Royal Society of Printmakers, London, were invited to take part, reflecting how the enthusiasm for printmaking is a worldwide phenomenon.

This online exhibition is still available for viewing in our 'Viewing Room Page' and includes information and web links to the workshops and artists involved. A series of online video talks and presentations about printmakers and printmaking  accompany this show with featured videos  as well as a full playlist on our YouTube Video Channel .
