Lars Nyberg RE. Since Lars was seventeen years old he has been working with the drypoint technique. "To feel and hear the steel needle travelling in the copperplate is meditative music for me. There is something unpredictable working with drypoint, the inscribed lines live theirs own lives in the copper – I like that.”

Awarded “Printmaking Today’s” prize at the 5th British International Miniature Print Exhibition 2004. “ Red Hanrahan’s Song About Ireland “ "During a residency at Ballinglen Arts Foundation years ago I met those trees and bushes beside the road to Killala, Co Mayo. At once I started to draw them, they become a symbol for me, for something sad that has happened, a symbol for something, wounded and divided. The emptiness in the middle – what has happened? A sad tale that I did not know the details of, but I believe I could hear some of their stories, their memories. Behind them there is a beautiful landscape with hills and fields in harmony, in contrast to the old memories in the foreground. The first lines in Red Hanrahan’s Song About Ireland reminded me at once of those trees and bushes I met earlier. In Yeats’ poem I recognized that feeling – the atmosphere, the landscape, Yeats’ landscape – as a symbol, his symbol? A symbol for a feeling or a nation? But also in distance, in the future, another landscape in contrast to the scattered group in the foreground. Finally after having read Red Hanrahans’s Song About Ireland, I started to work with the sharp steel needle in the mirror-polished copper plate".
